Early Life and Learning
Olamide Brown was born in London, England. She studied at Hull York Medical School. After finishing medical school, she worked in urgent medical care in the UK. She then won a special scholarship from Japan. This allowed her to study more in Tokyo. Her studies there focused on advanced cell research. She also earned a master's degree in finance and economic policy from the University of London. She has certificates in economic policymaking and accounting too.
Medical Career Journey
After her medical training, Dr. Brown worked briefly for the UK's National Health Service. She also trained in aviation medicine. This special training helped her become the CEO of West Africa's first air ambulance service. This service, called Flying Doctors Nigeria Ltd., operates in Lagos, Nigeria.
She is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians. In 2013, the World Economic Forum named her a Young Global Leader.
Starting Flying Doctors
Dr. Brown started the Flying Doctors company because she wanted to make medical services better in Nigeria. She had a personal experience with her sister's illness that showed her the need for faster medical help. She set up Flying Doctors in Lagos in 2007. In July 2018, Dr. Brown helped start Greentree Investment Company. This company invests money in new technology businesses in Africa. Some of their investments include Paystack and Precurio.
