Omenaa Mensah was born on July 26, 1979, in Jelenia Góra, Poland. She is a well-known Polish philanthropist, which means she helps people and good causes. She is also an entrepreneur, starting her own businesses, and an investor. You might know her as a TV presenter and a journalist. She also enjoys collecting art.

Her School Days

Omenaa went to primary school in Swarzędz and then to high school in Poznań. She was very active in sports, playing basketball for five years with the Union of Swarzędz team.

She studied "Management and Marketing" at a university in Poznań. Later, from 2001 to 2004, she focused on "European Studies" at the Poznań University of Economics. She earned her master's degree there in 2005. She has also been studying for her PhD at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, where she researches topics related to sub-Saharan Africa.

What She Does

Starting Businesses

While she was still studying, Omenaa started her first company called Omi Hair. This business offered African hairstyles to people. She also worked as a model in Poland and other parts of Europe.

Later, in 2012, she launched "Ammadora," a company that creates custom-made furniture inspired by art. In 2018, she started "Occhiello," which makes custom men's suits. She expanded this in 2020 with the "Amante" brand. She is also a partner in several other companies, including "RiO Asi" and "Omi Productions."

Her TV Career

In 2003, Omenaa began working at TVN 7. Since then, she has become a popular weather presenter for the TVN Group. She also hosts shows about travel, sports, cooking, and lifestyle on their channels.

Some of her TV shows include:

  • In 2008, she hosted Kitchen cooking program - open 24 hours a day on TVN Style with her daughter, Vanessa.
  • From 2014 to 2016, she presented Star Houses on Domo+. In this show, she visited famous Polish people in their homes.
  • In 2019, she hosted Luxury Houses with Omena on Domo+.
  • In 2020, she helped create Exceptional Houses, which was shown on TVN Style and TVN.

Omenaa also took part in entertainment programs:

  • In 2007, she competed in Dancing with the Stars with Rafał Maserak.
  • In 2017, she was the winning team captain in the TVN show Mali Giganci.

Helping Others

Omenaa Foundation

In May 2014, Omenaa started her own charity, the "Omenaa Foundation." She is the president of this foundation.

One of the biggest projects of her foundation began in April 2017: building a school for children in Tema, Ghana. The foundation raises money for this school and other good causes through special projects with companies and by involving Polish celebrities.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she helped Polish children living in children's homes. She organized a project to give them computers so they could learn from home. Her foundation also works to teach people about tolerance, acceptance, and respecting others. She created a charity show called Czarno to widzę, czyli wymieszani, posortowani (which means "Odds are not good, i.e. mixed, sorted"), which first showed in January 2020.

In 2022, she became the vice-president of the "Rafał Brzoska Foundation." This foundation helps talented young people from poorer areas by giving them money and guidance.

Helping Ukraine

In 2022, Omenaa Mensah and Rafał Brzoska organized "Convoys of Polish Hearts." These were some of the largest private efforts to send help to people in Ukraine during the war.

  • In April 2022, they sent an ambulance and several trucks with important supplies to a hospital in Rivne.
  • Later that month, 34 train cars full of food, medicines, and hygiene products went to Kharkiv. They worked with the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves to organize this.

Omenaa and Rafał also created the "RiO Edu Centrum" in Warsaw. This center helps women and children who have left Ukraine because of the war. It helps them build new lives in a different country and culture. The center offers legal advice, medical help, job support, intensive Polish language lessons, and care for young children.

Charity Auctions

In 2022, Omenaa and Rafał Brzoska organized the "Great Charity Auction: Top Charity 2022." They raised PLN 4,290,000 (Polish Złoty) at this event. Rafał Brzoska then doubled this amount, adding it to the new "Rafał Brzoska Foundation" account. Omenaa Mensah became the vice president of this foundation.

Awards for Her Charity Work

For her amazing charity work, Omenaa has received several awards:

  • In 2020, she won the Honorary Plebiscite Award "Charity Stars."
  • She also placed second in the "Business Woman 2020 – Social Activities" category in the "100 Women in Business" competition by Puls Biznesu.
  • In 2021, she was awarded the "Superstar of the Galaxy" for her charity efforts.

Her Family Life

Omenaa's mother, Izabella, is Polish, and her father, Opoku, is Ghanaian. Her mother studied environmental protection, and her father is a heart surgeon who has worked all over the world.

Omenaa has two children. Her daughter, Vanessa, was born in 2002 from a previous relationship. Her son, Vincent, was born in 2017, and his father is Rafał Brzoska. Omenaa and Rafał got married in 2019.

She loves art, design, and architecture, especially sculptures. In 2021, she mentioned that she was working on a big international project related to architecture, art, and design.
