Onondaga Hill is a small community known as a hamlet. It is located in the Town of Onondaga in Onondaga County, New York. You can find it southwest of the city of Syracuse. The hamlet sits on the Seneca Turnpike, where it crosses New York State Route 173 and New York State Route 175.

History of Onondaga Hill

Onondaga Hill has an interesting past. In 1805, the very first courthouse for Onondaga County was built here. This building served as the county's main legal center.

Later, in 1830, the county seat moved to Syracuse. After that, the old courthouse building in Onondaga Hill was used as a school. This shows how the community adapted over time.

The hamlet was also home to Onondaga's town hall until 2005. This means it was a central spot for local government for a long time.

Community Life

Onondaga Hill is a lively community with several important places. The Onondaga Free Library is located here. It offers books and resources for everyone. The Town of Onondaga Historical Society is also in the hamlet. This society helps preserve and share the history of the area.
