Opry Mills is a very large shopping mall in Nashville, Tennessee. It is owned by a company called Simon Property Group. The mall first opened in the year 2000. It was built where the Opryland USA theme park used to be.
Opry Mills is located right next to the famous Grand Ole Opry House and the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. It has many popular stores and places to eat. Some of the main stores include VF Outlet, Regal Cinemas, Madame Tussauds, Sun & Ski Sports, Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse, Bass Pro Shops, Ralph Lauren, Nike Outlet, H&M, Old Navy, Forever 21, and Dave & Buster's.
What You Can Find at Opry Mills
Opry Mills is a huge, single-level mall. It has over 200 stores and restaurants. Before it closed for a while in 2010, it had many well-known shops. These included Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Forever 21, Gap Factory Store, and Nike Factory Store.
Food and Fun
The mall also has a large food court where you can find many different places to eat. Some of the restaurants inside and outside the food court are Chili's, T.G.I. Friday's, Burger King, Johnny Rockets, Rainforest Cafe, Dave & Buster's, and Aquarium Restaurant.
Right outside Opry Mills, you can see the General Jackson showboat. This boat operates on the Cumberland River nearby.
The Big Flood of 2010
In May 2010, a big flood hit Tennessee. The floodwaters reached as high as 10 feet inside Opry Mills mall. This caused a lot of damage and forced the mall to close down.
The entire mall needed a lot of cleaning and repair work. Many stores had to move to other places in the area. At first, people thought the mall would reopen in August 2011. However, the repairs took longer than expected.
Reopening After Repairs
On April 12, 2011, the mall announced that they had enough money to start rebuilding. After two years of hard work and repairs, Opry Mills finally reopened on March 29, 2012. The mall even got a fresh new look and a new logo when it reopened.
