Optic Lake is a beautiful lake located in the Kenora District of Ontario, Canada. It's found in the northwestern part of the province. This lake is part of the huge Hudson Bay drainage basin, which means its waters eventually flow into Hudson Bay. It is also completely inside Woodland Caribou Provincial Park.

Exploring Optic Lake

Optic Lake is about 4.0 km (2.5 mi) long and 2.3 km (1.4 mi) wide. It sits at an elevation of about 365 m (1,198 ft) above sea level. This makes it a cool spot to explore in the Canadian wilderness.

Water Flow and Rivers

The main river connected to Optic Lake is the Rostoul River. This river flows into Optic Lake from Telescope Lake in the northeast. It then flows out of Optic Lake from the west, heading towards Glenn Lake.

The Rostoul River is an important part of a larger water system. After leaving Optic Lake, its waters travel through several other rivers. These include the Gammon River, the Bloodvein River, and then into Lake Winnipeg. From Lake Winnipeg, the water continues its journey down the Nelson River. Finally, all this water reaches its destination: Hudson Bay. This long journey shows how all these lakes and rivers are connected!
