Where the Orange-bellied Flowerpecker Lives

The orange-bellied flowerpecker makes its home in different types of habitats. It prefers warm, wet forests. These include lowland forests, which are close to sea level. It also lives in mangrove forests, which are found along coastlines. Sometimes, you can spot them in montane forests, which are found on mountains.

What the Orange-bellied Flowerpecker Looks Like

This bird is known for its bright colors. The male and female look quite different.

Male Flowerpecker

The male orange-bellied flowerpecker is very easy to spot. Its upper body, including its head, neck, wings, and tail, is a slaty-blue color. It has a special bright orange patch on its back, shaped like a triangle. Its beak is thin and short, curving slightly downwards. The male's throat and upper chest are a lighter grayish-blue. From its lower chest to its belly, the color changes from fiery orange to yellow.

Female Flowerpecker

The female orange-bellied flowerpecker is not as colorful as the male. She is mostly a dull olive-brown color all over her body. However, she does have a pale orange rump (the area above her tail). Her belly is also yellow, which helps to identify her.
