What the Orange-bellied Flowerpecker Looks Like
This bird is known for its bright colors. The male and female look quite different.
Male Flowerpecker
The male orange-bellied flowerpecker is very easy to spot. Its upper body, including its head, neck, wings, and tail, is a slaty-blue color. It has a special bright orange patch on its back, shaped like a triangle. Its beak is thin and short, curving slightly downwards. The male's throat and upper chest are a lighter grayish-blue. From its lower chest to its belly, the color changes from fiery orange to yellow.
Female Flowerpecker
The female orange-bellied flowerpecker is not as colorful as the male. She is mostly a dull olive-brown color all over her body. However, she does have a pale orange rump (the area above her tail). Her belly is also yellow, which helps to identify her.
