Orange Bird is a fun Disney character! He was created in 1969 and first appeared in 1971. He became the mascot for the Florida Citrus Commission. They helped sponsor the Enchanted Tiki Room and Sunshine Tree Terrace at Magic Kingdom park. Orange Bird is a cartoon orange canary.

Orange Bird is special! He can't sing or talk like other cartoon birds. Instead, he shares his feelings using cool orange smoke clouds.

Orange Bird has appeared in many places over the years. He has been in ads, at Disney parks, and even in comic books!
Orange Bird in Ads and Cartoons
Orange Bird first appeared in TV, print, and radio ads for Florida oranges. He was often seen with singer Anita Bryant. In 1971, a record album was released that told Orange Bird's story. It even had a 10-page storybook!
The Sherman Brothers, who wrote songs for famous Disney movies like Mary Poppins and The Jungle Book, wrote "The Orange Bird Song." This song became Orange Bird's theme song.
Orange Bird later starred in some Disney educational cartoons in the 1980s. These included "Foods and Fun: A Nutrition Adventure." He became a well-known symbol for citrus, especially in Florida and the United States. You can even see exhibits about him at the Orange County Regional History Museum in Orlando, Florida.
Orange Bird at Disney Parks
In the 1970s, Orange Bird was a walk-around character at Magic Kingdom. He often greeted guests in Adventureland, near the Enchanted Tiki Room. A small figure of Orange Bird also sat behind the counter at the Sunshine Tree Terrace. This figure has since been returned to its original spot!
Orange Bird is very popular in Japan. In 2004, he was featured at Tokyo Disneyland. Disney created special merchandise to celebrate Japan's annual Orange Day on April 14.
In April 2012, Orange Bird made a big return to the Sunshine Tree Terrace at Walt Disney World.
Orange Bird Merchandise
You can find lots of Orange Bird items at Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort. These include t-shirts, pins, ear hats, and cups shaped like Orange Bird. In 2021, a new line of clothing and a magnetic shoulder plush were released.
Orange Bird in Comics
Orange Bird has also appeared in comic books! He is a character in the Disney Kingdoms comic book series, in the Enchanted Tiki Room issue. He also showed up in a page of Inside Out book called The Bing Bong Book in 2015.
