The Ordway Building (also known as One Kaiser Plaza) is a very tall building called a skyscraper located in downtown Oakland, California. It stands close to Oakland's Lake Merritt. This building has 28 floors of office space.
The Ordway Building is the tallest skyscraper in Oakland. It is also the tallest outside of San Francisco in the entire Bay Area. It stands about 123 meters (404 feet) tall.
What is the Ordway Building?
The Ordway Building is shaped like the letter "H" if you look at it from above. This special shape means that each floor has eight corner offices. Corner offices often have great views!
Who uses the Ordway Building?
The main company that uses the Ordway Building is Kaiser Permanente. They have used the building as their main office (national headquarters) since it was finished in 1970.
In 2009, Kaiser Permanente was renting office space on 21 of the building's 28 floors. They signed a new agreement to keep renting space there for nine more years.
