The Orinoco saltator (Saltator orenocensis) is a cool bird found in parts of South America. It's also sometimes called the Orinocan saltator. This bird belongs to a group called saltators, which are part of the Thraupidae family. Think of them as a type of tanager, known for their strong beaks and often colorful feathers.

Where the Orinoco Saltator Lives

This bird mostly lives in Venezuela. You can find it in areas west and north of the famous Orinoco River. It also lives right along the river itself and stretches all the way to the Caribbean coast.

Orinoco Saltator's Home Range

Besides Venezuela, you might spot the Orinoco saltator in parts of northeast Colombia that border Venezuela. It also makes its home on the eastern side of Lake Maracaibo. So, it's quite a traveler within its region!
