Orlando Peçanha de Carvalho (born September 20, 1935 – died February 10, 2010) was a famous Brazilian football player. People often called him just Orlando. He was a strong defender on the field. Orlando is best known for being part of the Brazilian team that won the 1958 FIFA World Cup. He also played for big clubs like Vasco da Gama, Boca Juniors, and Santos.

Orlando Peçanha: A Football Star
Early Days and Club Adventures
Orlando started his football journey in Brazil. He played for Vasco da Gama from 1955 to 1960. During this time, he became a very important player. He was known for his strong defense and leadership skills.
After his time at Vasco da Gama, Orlando moved to Argentina. He joined the famous club Boca Juniors in 1960. He quickly became a key player there.
Playing for Boca Juniors
Orlando played 119 games for Boca Juniors. He was a defender, so he focused on stopping goals, not scoring them. He never scored a goal for Boca Juniors. However, he was a great leader. He even became the team's captain.
As captain, Orlando helped Boca Juniors win two league titles. They won in 1962 and again in 1964. These wins showed his importance to the team. After Boca Juniors, he played for Santos and won another league title in 1965.
World Cup Champion
Orlando was a big part of the Brazilian national team. He played in the 1958 FIFA World Cup in Sweden. Brazil won this tournament, making Orlando a World Cup champion. This was a huge achievement for him and his country.
He also played in the 1966 FIFA World Cup. By then, he was the vice-captain of the team. In total, Orlando played 31 games for Brazil.
Later Life
After his playing career, Orlando became a football manager. He coached several teams in Brazil and Kuwait.
Orlando passed away on February 10, 2010. He died in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, due to a heart attack. He is remembered as a legendary Brazilian defender.
