History of Orlinda
Orlinda was first set up as a town in 1965. It was originally called Crockers Crossroads. However, its name had to be changed because it was too close to another place called Tuckers Crossroads, Tennessee.
People suggested the name Centerville, but that was also taken by Centerville, Tennessee. So, the name Orlinda was chosen because no other community in the United States used it.
In October 2000, the Orlinda City Hall and Post Office moved to their current spot on Highway 52. Before that, City Hall was in an old bank building. This building, built in 1909, is now the city's public library, which opened in 2003.
