Ostallgäu is a rural district located in the southwest part of Bavaria, Germany. It's part of a larger area called Swabia. A district is like a county or a region that groups together many towns and villages.
Ostallgäu shares its borders with several other districts. These include Oberallgäu, Unterallgäu, Augsburg (district), Landsberg (district), Weilheim-Schongau, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen (district). The city of Kaufbeuren is right in the middle of Ostallgäu, but it's a "district-free city." This means it's a city big enough to manage itself and isn't part of the surrounding district. To the south, Ostallgäu touches the country of Austria, specifically the state of Tyrol. The main city and capital of the Ostallgäu district is Marktoberdorf.
