History of Otis
Otis began its story in 1882. It started as a temporary camp for workers. These workers were busy building a new railroad line. This line, called the Burlington & Missouri River, connected Lincoln, Nebraska, to Denver, Colorado.
People say the town was named after W. O. Otis. He was one of the first people to settle in the area. The town got its own post office in 1886. Then, in 1887, the town was officially planned out. It became an incorporated town on March 27, 1917.
