Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve is a city and a special type of local government area called a municipality in Wallonia, which is a region in Belgium. It is located in the Walloon Brabant province of Belgium. In 2006, about 29,521 people lived here. The total area of the municipality is about 32.96 square kilometers. This means there were about 896 people living in each square kilometer.

The municipality is made up of several smaller areas called sub-municipalities. These include Ottignies, Louvain-la-Neuve, Céroux-Mousty, and Limelette. Louvain-la-Neuve, often called "LLN," is a special "new town." It was built starting in 1968. This was done to create a new home for the University of Louvain (UCLouvain). This university is the French-speaking part of the old Catholic University of Louvain. The university split into two parts, and the Dutch-speaking part stayed in the old city of Louvain (Leuven).

Louvain-la-Neuve Science Park

The Louvain-la-Neuve Science Park was started in 1971. It was the first science park of its kind in Belgium. Today, it is the largest science park in Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium. This park covers an area of 231 hectares. It is spread across the town of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve and the nearby municipality of Mont-Saint-Guibert. The park is about 30 kilometers away from Brussels.
