Industry in Oupeye
Chertal is a narrow piece of land located about 1.5 kilometers southeast of Oupeye. It is surrounded by the Albert Canal and the Meuse River.
Since 1963, Chertal has been home to a large steel factory. This factory was first started by a company called Espérance-Longdoz. Today, it is part of a bigger company known as ArcelorMittal Liège. Steel factories are important for making many things we use every day, like cars and buildings.
