Time at Mérida and Sevilla
Alfaro then moved to CP Mérida in 1997. He played almost all their matches. However, the team was moved down from La Liga that season. Later, in 1999–2000, Mérida was moved down again because of money problems.
In 2000, Pablo Alfaro joined Sevilla FC. He helped Sevilla get back into La Liga in his first season. At Sevilla, he and Javi Navarro formed a very strong defensive team. Later, as younger players like Sergio Ramos joined, Alfaro moved to Racing de Santander in 2006. He scored an important goal for Racing, helping them avoid being moved down from La Liga.
