Packrat Lake is a beautiful, small mountain lake located in Boise County, Idaho, in the United States. You can find it nestled high up in the Sawtooth Mountains, which are part of the amazing Sawtooth National Recreation Area.
This lake is a bit of a hidden gem because there are no official trails that lead directly to Packrat Lake or to Goat Creek, the stream that flows from it.

Packrat Lake is found deep inside the Sawtooth Wilderness. A wilderness area is a special place that is protected to keep nature wild and untouched. To visit this area, you need to get a special permit. You can usually find these permits at registration boxes located at the start of hiking trails or at the edges of the wilderness area.

A little further downstream from Packrat Lake, you'll find another body of water called Oreamnus Lake. The water from Packrat Lake eventually flows into Goat Creek, which then joins the South Fork of the Payette River.
What is a Glacial Lake?
