A Look Back: History of Paderborn
The Paderborn area became part of Prussia in 1802. Prussia was a powerful German kingdom at that time. After the Napoleonic Wars, Prussia created a new area called the province of Westphalia.
During this time, Paderborn was divided into two smaller districts: Paderborn and Büren. Many years later, in 1975, these two districts were reunited. They came together to form the Paderborn district we know today.
