Pak Hon-yong (Hangul: 박헌영; Hanja: 朴憲永) was an important figure in Korean history. He was born on May 28, 1900, and passed away around December 5, 1955. Pak Hon-yong was a fighter for Korean independence, a politician, and a Communist leader. He was also known by other names like 'Kim Seongsam' and "Ijeong." In North Korea, he served as the Foreign Minister and Vice Prime Minister from August 1948 to 1953.

Early Life and Education
Pak Hon-yong was born in Yesan County, which is in South Chungcheong Province, during the time of the Korean Empire. He went to Kyŏngsŏng Ordinary High School, finishing in 1919. He also studied at KyungKi High School. These schools helped him prepare for his future work.
A Leader for Korea
Pak Hon-yong was a key person in the Chosen Communist Party in Korea. This party aimed to bring about big changes in society. He worked hard to make Korea an independent nation. He believed in a system called communism.
Roles in Government
After Korea was divided, Pak Hon-yong became a leader in North Korea. He held two very important jobs. From 1948 to 1953, he was the Foreign Minister. This meant he was in charge of North Korea's relationships with other countries. He also served as the Vice Prime Minister. This made him one of the top leaders in the government.
General Secretary of the Workers' Party
Before his roles in the North Korean government, Pak Hon-yong was the General Secretary of the Workers' Party of South Korea. This was a major political party. He led this party from November 1946 to June 1949. This shows how important he was in the political movements of Korea.
