Palmer is a small town located in Ellis County, Texas, United States. It is part of the large Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex area. In 2020, about 2,393 people lived in Palmer.

Where is Palmer Located?
Palmer is found in the northeastern part of Ellis County. A major highway, Interstate 45, runs along the east side of the town. This highway connects Palmer to Dallas, which is about 27 miles north. It also goes south to Ennis, about 8 miles away. Waxahachie, the main city of Ellis County, is about 11 miles to the west.
The town covers a total area of about 3.15 square miles (8.16 square kilometers). Only a very small part of this area is covered by water.

Palmer's Culture and History
Palmer has a small connection to Hollywood! Parts of the 1983 movie Tender Mercies were filmed here. This film is about a country western singer. Even though most of the movie was filmed in Waxahachie, the director chose Palmer for some scenes. He wanted to show more empty and quiet places that looked like West Texas. The town in the movie is never named specifically.
Learning in Palmer: Schools and Education
Palmer has three main schools for students of different ages. These are Palmer High School, Palmer Middle School, and Palmer Elementary School.
Palmer Elementary School
The current elementary school building was built in 2015. The old school building is now used for things like the gym and cafeteria. Palmer Elementary has over 350 students. These students range from prekindergarten up to third grade.
Palmer Middle School
A few years ago, the junior high and middle school joined together. They became Palmer Middle School. This school teaches students from fourth grade through eighth grade. There are around 350 students at Palmer Middle School.
Palmer High School
Palmer High School is one of the newer buildings in town. It serves students from 9th to 12th grades. More than 300 students attend Palmer High School.
Sports and Activities
Both Palmer High School and Palmer Middle School offer many sports. Students from 7th to 12th grades can join these teams. Sports include track and field, basketball, football, baseball, softball, volleyball, cross country, and golf. Besides sports, students can also join extracurricular activities. These include the school band and the National Honor Society.
