Panamá Oeste (which means "West Panama" in English) is the newest province in the country of Panama. It was formed on January 1, 2014.

This province was created from five areas that used to be part of Panamá Province. These areas are located west of the famous Panama Canal. The main city and capital of Panamá Oeste is La Chorrera.

Understanding Panamá Oeste's Divisions

Panamá Oeste Province is split into smaller parts to help manage it. These parts are called distritos (districts). There are 5 districts in total. Each district is then divided even further into smaller areas called corregimientos. There are 59 corregimientos across the province.
