La Chorrera has a warm tropical climate. It experiences heavy seasonal rains from May to November. These rains help create large grasslands. These grasslands are perfect for raising cattle and, to a smaller extent, pigs.

The land in La Chorrera is very fertile. This means it's great for growing many different crops. Farmers here grow delicious pineapple, rice, and coffee. They also produce oranges, cassava, beans, and sugar cane. About 2% of Panama's lumber (wood) comes from this district.

Where is La Chorrera Located?

La Chorrera is situated on the Panamerican Highway. This is a major road that connects many countries in the Americas. The city is located between the districts of Capira and Arraiján. It is also quite close to the Pacific coast, about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) away.

The History Behind the Name

The exact reason for the name "La Chorrera" is not fully known. However, many believe it comes from the many waterfalls in the area. The word "chorrera" in Spanish can refer to a waterfall or a gushing stream. Some of these waterfalls include El Chorro de La Chorrera, El Chorro Trinidad, and El Chorro de Caño Quebrada.
