Panther Creek Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Skamania County, Washington. It's found in the scenic Wind River Valley. This amazing waterfall is about 130-foot (40 m) tall.

It has two main sections, with the tallest part dropping about 102 feet (31 m). Because it flows all year long, it's called a 'perennial' waterfall.

Visiting Panther Creek Falls

You can easily visit Panther Creek Falls! A special path, called a trail, leads right up to the waterfall. The Forest Service takes care of this trail.

At the end of the trail, there's a viewing deck. From here, you can see the main part of the waterfall. This main section looks like a 'horsetail' because of how the water spreads out. If you want to see the very last 30-foot (9.1 m) drop, you'll need to step off the main trail.

How the Waterfall Forms

Panther Creek Falls is formed in a really cool way. The creek flows quickly towards a cliff. Then, it makes a sharp turn. Some of the water rushes too fast and spills over the side early.

But most of the water follows the creek. It goes into a natural dip, like a groove in the rock. From there, the water drops off! This is where the 'horsetail' part of the waterfall begins. The first section drops about 102 feet (31 m). After this, there's a final 30-foot (9.1 m) drop, and then the creek continues on its way.
