How Papudo is Governed

Local Government Structure

As a commune, Papudo is like a local district. It has its own government that helps run things. This local government is led by an alcalde, which is like a mayor. The alcalde is chosen by the people in an election every four years.

The current alcalde for Papudo is Rosa Prieto Valdes. She works with a group of people called the communal council. These council members help the alcalde make decisions for the community.

Representing Papudo in Chile

People from Papudo are also represented in Chile's national government. They have officials who speak for them in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. These are like the two main parts of Chile's parliament.

For example, people from Papudo are part of a larger area that elects members to the Chamber of Deputies. Currently, Eduardo Cerda and Andrea Molina represent this area. In the Senate, which is another part of the national government, Ignacio Walker Prieto and Lily Pérez San Martín represent the region that includes Papudo.
