Parafield Gardens is a suburb located in Adelaide, South Australia. It's mostly a place where people live, with a small area for businesses and factories in the southwest. You can find two small shopping centres here, one on Salisbury Highway and another on Sheperdson Road.

History of Parafield Gardens

Parafield Gardens began as a planned area of land. Back in 1881, the government thought about creating a large cemetery here, but that idea was dropped by 1906.

Instead, the land was used for farming experiments. Later, in 1911, it became a poultry farm known as Parafield Farm. In 1958, a company started selling land for homes in the area. During the 1970s, the South Australian Housing Trust began building many houses here. The name Parafield Gardens was officially given to the suburb sometime before the year 2000. A newer housing area called Pine Lakes Estate was built in the early 2000s.

The Parafield Gardens Post Office opened its doors on September 25, 1961.
