Parishville is a small community in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. It's known as the main hamlet (a small settlement, smaller than a village) within the larger town of Parishville. It is also a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's an area identified by the U.S. Census Bureau for statistical purposes. In 2020, about 642 people lived in Parishville.

Where is Parishville?

Parishville is located in the eastern part of St. Lawrence County, New York. It sits on the eastern side of the town of Parishville. The eastern edge of this community touches the border of another town called Hopkinton.

Getting Around Parishville

New York State Route 72 is a main road that goes right through Parishville. If you follow this route northeast for about 7 miles (11 km), you'll reach State Route 11B in Hopkinton. If you head northwest on Route 72, you'll travel about 10 miles (16 km) to get to Potsdam.

The West Branch of the St. Regis River

A river called the West Branch of the St. Regis River flows through Parishville. It's quite interesting because it drops over a dam right in the middle of the community. After the dam, the river falls about 130 feet (40 meters) in elevation over less than a mile! This water then continues downstream to the Allen Falls Reservoir.

River's Journey

The West Branch eventually joins the main St. Regis River near Winthrop. All of this water is part of the larger St. Lawrence River watershed. This means the water from Parishville eventually flows into the huge St. Lawrence River.
