Parque García Sanabria is a large public park located right in the center of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This city is on the island of Tenerife, which is part of the Canary Islands in Spain. The park first opened its gates in 1926. It's a beautiful green area filled with fountains and interesting buildings. The government of the Canary Islands has even listed it as a special place of cultural interest.

The park gets its name from Mayor Garcia Sanabria. He was the mayor who approved its construction, helping to bring this wonderful space to life. It is the biggest city park in all of the Canary Islands. It covers a huge area of about 67,230 square meters. In 1973, the park hosted an international art show. Many sculptures were displayed during this event. About thirteen of these sculptures remained in the park, adding to its beauty and giving visitors more to discover.

The park's famous flower clock

One of the most famous features of the park is its amazing flower clock. This clock was made in Switzerland by a company called Favag. It was a gift to the island of Tenerife in 1958 from the Consul of Denmark.

The flower clock is located between two staircases, and behind it is a large central fountain. What makes it special is that it is always planted with fresh flowers throughout the year. This means it constantly looks colorful and vibrant.

Plaza Fernando Pessoa

Right next to Parque García Sanabria, you'll find a square called Plaza Fernando Pessoa. This square is quite unique. It is thought to be the only "zodiacal" square in the Canary Islands, and possibly even in Spain.

The design of the square shows how the stars and planets were aligned when the city of Lisbon was founded. The decorations on the fountain represent the positions of the planets. In the background, you can see the different signs of the zodiac. It's like a map of the sky from a long time ago!
