Partridge River (Crow Wing River tributary) facts for kids
The Partridge River is a cool, small river located in the countryside of west-central Minnesota, in the United States. It has a helper river called the Little Partridge River.
The Partridge River flows for about 32.6 miles (52.5 kilometers). It eventually joins the Crow Wing River. From there, its water travels all the way to the mighty Mississippi River! This means it's part of the huge watershed that feeds the Mississippi.
Where the River Flows
The Partridge River starts its journey in Bertha Township, which is north of the town of Eagle Bend. It begins on The Harren Farm in the northwestern part of Todd County.
From there, the river generally flows towards the northeast. It travels into southeastern Wadena County, passing by the town of Aldrich.
Meeting the Crow Wing River
The Partridge River finally meets the Crow Wing River in Thomastown Township. This spot is about 9 miles (14 kilometers) north-northwest of the town of Staples. It's also about 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) downstream from where the Leaf River joins the Crow Wing.
The Little Partridge River
The biggest helper, or tributary, to the Partridge River is the Little Partridge River. This smaller river starts west of Eagle Bend in Wykeham Township in Todd County.
It flows northeast for about 21 miles (33.9 kilometers). The Little Partridge River actually runs parallel to the very first part of the Partridge River. It then joins the main Partridge River in Bartlett Township.
