History of Eagle Bend
Eagle Bend was first settled in the early 1880s by brave pioneers. One of the first settlers was Charles O'Dell, who opened a general store. Another early settler was Marion Crider, a homesteader from Kentucky.
When O'Dell opened his store, Crider was his very first customer. He bought a pound of coffee! Later, a railroad executive named Benjamin F. Abbott bought the land where the town was. He wanted to change the town's name to Abbottsville. However, the original name, Eagle Bend, was kept.
The first post office was set up in O'Dell's store in 1882. Eagle Bend officially became a village on January 21, 1890.
