Pat Hogan, whose real name was Thurman Lee Haas, was an American actor. He was born on February 3, 1920, and passed away on November 21, 1966. During his acting career, Pat Hogan often played roles as Native American characters. He became famous for his part as Chief Red Stick in the movie Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier (1955).
Pat Hogan's Acting Career
Pat Hogan was born in Oklahoma. His parents were Claude Red Elk and Ann McTigue. He was a member of the Oneida tribe. He went to Roosevelt High School in St. Louis. Later, he studied art at Pasadena Junior College.
Pat Hogan appeared in many television series and a few movies, especially Westerns. He also acted on stage. Some of his stage plays included Arrowhead (1953) and The Last Frontier (1955). He also starred in Indian Paint (1965). In Indian Paint, he acted alongside his brothers-in-law, Johnny Crawford and Robert L. "Bobby" Crawford Jr.. Pat Hogan was married to their sister, Nancy Scott, who is now known as Nance Crawford. He had three children: Shawna, Brian, and Kathie.
His first movie role was in Fix Bayonets (1952).
In 1954, Pat Hogan played Chief Red Stick in Walt Disney's "Davy Crockett, Indian Fighter." This show starred Fess Parker. In 1955, when he was 34, Hogan played a 20-year-old outlaw named Cherokee Bill. This was for the TV show Stories of the Century. He then played Black Cloud in the CBS series Brave Eagle (1955–56). He also appeared as Sam Peachpit in Casey Jones (1957). Another role was Rivas in the NBC show Northwest Passage (1958).
During the 1950s and 1960s, Pat Hogan was a guest star on many popular TV shows. These included The Rifleman, Gunsmoke, Broken Arrow, Crossroads, Zorro, Daniel Boone, and Texas John Slaughter. His very last acting job was in the movie Indian Paint (1965). He acted with Jay Silverheels in this film.
In the mid-1950s, Pat Hogan was married to a dancer named Jacquelyn Gibson.
Pat Hogan's Passing
Pat Hogan passed away on November 21, 1966. He was in Los Angeles, California, at the time. He died from lung cancer.
