Patrick Lee Williams (born August 26, 2001) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Chicago Bulls in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before joining the NBA, he played college basketball for the Florida State Seminoles. He was chosen as the fourth pick in the 2020 NBA draft.

Growing Up and High School Basketball
Patrick Williams was born on August 26, 2001, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Both his parents, Eddie and Janie, played college basketball. Patrick grew up in Charlotte and went to West Charlotte High School.
He was a key player on his high school basketball team for four years. In his junior year, he scored about 20.7 points per game. He also grabbed 7.7 rebounds and made 3.7 assists per game. Experts saw him as a top-50 player in his age group.
Patrick chose to play college basketball at Florida State. Many other big universities also wanted him. In his senior year, he averaged 22.1 points and 9.0 rebounds. He helped his team reach the 4A State Championship game. Patrick also played in the 2019 Jordan Brand Classic, a special game for top high school players.
College Career at Florida State
When Patrick started college, he was seen as a top player for the 2020 NBA draft. He played for the Florida State Seminoles. He was often the team's "sixth man". This means he was usually the first player to come off the bench.
He had some great games, scoring 18 points against Western Carolina. He also scored 16 points against Tennessee–Chattanooga. In a big win against North Carolina, he scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
At the end of the season, Patrick was named the ACC Sixth Man of the Year. He also made the ACC All-Freshman team. He averaged 9.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. After this successful year, Patrick decided to enter the NBA draft.
Playing in the NBA
The Chicago Bulls picked Patrick Williams as the fourth player overall in the 2020 NBA draft. He signed his first contract with the Bulls on November 22, 2020.
Patrick played his first NBA game on December 23, 2020. He started the game and scored 16 points. On May 15, 2021, he scored a season-high 24 points against the Brooklyn Nets.
In October 2021, Patrick hurt his wrist and needed surgery. This kept him off the court for several months. He returned to play on March 21, 2022. On April 10, he scored a career-high 35 points in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Bulls made it to the playoffs in 2022, which was their first time since 2017. They played against the Milwaukee Bucks. Patrick made his playoff debut on April 17. The Bulls lost the series in five games.
Patrick re-signed with the Bulls in July 2024. In September 2024, he was cleared to train after dealing with some foot discomfort.
