Patterson Peak is a tall mountain located in the White Cloud Mountains of Idaho. It reaches an impressive height of 10,872 feet (about 3,314 meters) above sea level. This peak is found within the beautiful Sawtooth National Recreation Area in Custer County.

The mountain is about 2.7 miles (4.3 kilometers) west of Castle Peak, which is its "parent peak." This means Castle Peak is a higher mountain that Patterson Peak is connected to. Patterson Peak is also about 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) northeast of Fourth of July Peak.

Location and Nearby Lakes

Patterson Peak stands proudly to the east of Fourth of July Lake. This lake is a popular spot for visitors. The area around Patterson Peak is known for its many clear, blue lakes.

Several other lakes are nestled in the basin to the northeast of the peak. These include Glacier Lake, Rock Lake, Emerald Lake, and Cornice Lake. These lakes add to the stunning scenery of the White Cloud Mountains.

Exploring the Area

The White Cloud Mountains, where Patterson Peak is located, are part of the larger Sawtooth National Forest. This forest offers many outdoor activities. People can enjoy hiking, camping, and exploring the wilderness.

The easiest way to reach the top of Patterson Peak is through simple scrambling. This means climbing over rocks and uneven terrain, but it doesn't usually require special climbing gear. It's a fun challenge for experienced hikers.
