Paul-Emile "Babe" Bibeault (born April 12, 1919 – died August 2, 1970) was a professional ice hockey player from Canada. He was a goaltender, which is the player who tries to stop the puck from going into the net. Bibeault played for several teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), including the Chicago Black Hawks, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Boston Bruins.

Early Career and NHL Teams

Paul-Emile Bibeault started his professional hockey career in 1940. He quickly became known for his skills as a goaltender. He played for some of the most famous teams in the NHL.

Bibeault played for the Chicago Black Hawks and the Montreal Canadiens. He also spent time with the Boston Bruins. These teams are still very popular today.

Joining the Toronto Maple Leafs

During the 1943-44 NHL season, Bibeault had a special role. He joined the Toronto Maple Leafs in December. He was "on loan" to them, which means he played for them temporarily.

He helped the Maple Leafs for half of that season. His performance was strong enough to earn him a spot on the 1944 NHL All-Star Team. This team is made up of the best players in the league for that year.

A Unique NHL Record

Paul Bibeault holds a special place in the NHL record book. He is one of only five goaltenders in history to have a player score five goals against him in a single playoff game. This is a very rare event in hockey.

It means that one player on the opposing team managed to score five times in one game while Bibeault was in goal. Even though it's a record for goals scored against him, it shows he played in some very exciting and high-scoring games.

Later Life and Legacy

Bibeault continued to play hockey for many years. His career lasted until 1955. He was a dedicated player who contributed to his teams.

Paul-Emile Bibeault passed away on August 2, 1970. He was 51 years old. He is remembered as a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender.
