Paula Fernandes de Souza is a talented Brazilian singer and songwriter. She was born on August 28, 1984, in Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Paula's Early Life and Music Journey
Paula Fernandes grew up on a farm in Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais, with her parents and younger brother. When she was 18, she moved to Belo Horizonte to study Geography in college.
Paula started singing at a very young age, when she was just eight years old. She released her first album, called Paula Fernandes, in 1993. A few years later, in 1995, she released her second album, Ana Rayo. This album was inspired by a popular Brazilian TV show called A História de Ana Raio e Zé Trovão.
In 2005, Paula recorded a song called "Ave Maria Natureza". This song became a theme for another famous TV show, América, on the Rede Globo channel. That same year, she released the album Canções do Vento Sul. For this album, she was nominated for a Best Popular Singer Award in Brazil. In 2007, Paula released an album in English called Dust in the Wind, which had an American western style.
Rising to Fame
Paula's song "Jeito de Mato" from her 2009 album, Pássaro de Fogo, was also used as a theme song for a TV show called Paraíso. Her version of Ivete Sangalo's song "Quando a Chuva Passar" became the main theme for the TV show Escrito nas Estrelas.
In October 2010, Paula released her first DVD. She became even more well-known after appearing on two special TV shows on Rede Globo. These were the Roberto Carlos end-of-year show and Show da Virada on New Year's Eve.
Her live album, Paula Fernandes – Ao Vivo, came out in 2011 and was the best-selling album that year. Paula also became famous across Latin America when she sang with Juanes on his song "Hoy Me Voy" in 2012.
