Paula Sage is a talented Scottish actress and athlete. She is also a strong supporter and advocate for people who have Down syndrome. Paula was born on November 28, 1980.

Early Life and School

Paula Sage was adopted when she was a baby by her parents, Alan and Mary Sage. Her father was a university lecturer. Paula went to primary school and high school in Cumbernauld, Scotland. She also attended Merkland school in Kirkintilloch.

Acting Career

Paula Sage became famous for her role as Roberta Brogan in the 2003 British film AfterLife. Her performance was highly praised. She played the sister of a character played by Kevin McKidd. She was also the daughter of a character played by Lindsay Duncan.

For her amazing acting in AfterLife, Paula won two big awards:

  • A BAFTA Scotland award for best first time performance.
  • The Best Actress award at the Bratislava International Film Festival in 2004.

Critics were very impressed with her acting. One critic, Liz Hoggard, said that Paula's performance was "the most remarkable thing about the film."

The movie AfterLife also won the Audience Award at the 2005 Edinburgh International Film Festival. After her success in the film, Paula got a role in the BBC Scotland soap opera River City. She played the character Donna McCabe.

Sports and Advocacy

Beyond acting, Paula Sage is also a talented athlete. She won a silver medal as part of the British netball team at the Special Olympics. The Special Olympics is a global sports event for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

Paula is a dedicated advocate for people with Down syndrome. She works as an ambassador for Down's Syndrome Scotland and Mencap. She is also a patron of the Ann Craft Trust. Paula Sage made history by becoming the first person with Down syndrome to be a Mencap ambassador.

In addition to her acting and advocacy work, Paula also worked part-time. She had jobs at a travel agency and a cafe in Glasgow.
