History of Pavillion
Water Quality Concerns
Around 2008, some people living near Pavillion noticed problems with their well water. They reported that the water looked strange, smelled bad, and made them feel sick. They thought this might be linked to a process called fracking, which is used to get natural gas from deep underground.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) started looking into these concerns. In 2010, EPA investigators told residents not to drink their water. They found certain chemicals, like benzene, in the water. They also suggested using fans when bathing to avoid any risks. Later, in 2016, a study confirmed that chemicals used in fracking can affect drinking water from wells.
