He spent four years playing for Real Madrid's B-team, called Real Madrid Castilla. He also played in four first-team games for Real Madrid during the 1998–99 season. That year, Real Madrid finished second in the league.
Loan to Rayo Vallecano
For the 1996–97 season, Pedro was loaned to Rayo Vallecano. He played in almost all their league matches, missing only one out of 42 games. However, his team was moved down from La Liga to a lower division that season.

Pedro Contreras moved to Málaga for the 1999–2000 season. At Málaga, he was the main goalkeeper. He played in almost every top-division game from 1999 to 2003, missing only six matches.
Playing for Real Betis
In the summer of 2003, Pedro signed with Real Betis. He played in 22 league games during his first season there. However, he didn't play in the next season because of an injury. Also, another goalkeeper named Toni Doblas became the main player.
In the 2005–06 season, Pedro played in both the UEFA Cup and the Champions League. In a Champions League group stage game against Chelsea, he managed to keep a clean sheet. This means he didn't let the other team score any goals, and Betis won the game 1–0.
Later Career and Retirement
For the 2007–08 season, Pedro was loaned to Cádiz. This team is also in Andalusia and plays in the Segunda División, which is a lower league. After that season, he left Real Betis and stopped playing professional football.

International Career
