Pedro Duro Benito (1810–1886) was a very important Spanish businessman. He lived in the 19th century. He started a big industrial company called Duro Felguera. He was also a pioneer in making iron and steel in Spain.

Pedro Duro: A Spanish Business Pioneer
Pedro Duro was born in Brieva de Cameros, a place in La Rioja, Spain. He passed away in 1886 in the Principality of Asturias.
Building a Giant Factory
In 1857, Pedro Duro started building a huge factory. It was called the Felguera Factory. This factory made metal products, especially iron. It became the most important metal factory in Spain during the 19th century. It stayed very important until the 1960s. It was the first really big ironworks built in Spain.
A Legacy of Success
Pedro Duro's family became very well-known. Later, King Alfonso XIII gave his descendants the special title of Marquesses of La Felguera. Pedro Duro himself received important awards. He was given the Order of Isabella the Catholic from Spain. He also got the Légion d'honneur from the French government.
Pedro Duro was buried in La Felguera. The workers from his factory built a large monument there to honor him. He also cared about his workers. He was one of the first to introduce social benefits for them. His hard work helped industries grow a lot in northern Spain.
Today, the company he started is still active. It is called "Duro Felguera." It has been traded on the Spanish stock exchange since 1902. This means people can buy and sell parts of the company.
