Peggs Point is a piece of land that sticks out into a body of water. This type of landform is called a geographic cape. Peggs Point extends into Otsego Lake in the state of New York, in a place called Otsego County.
Where is Peggs Point?
Peggs Point is found on the eastern side of Otsego Lake. It is located north of the small village of Cooperstown. This point also forms the southern edge of a nearby area called Hyde Bay. Hyde Bay is located just north of Peggs Point.
What is a Cape?
A cape is a high point of land that reaches out into a sea, lake, or ocean. Capes are often formed by erosion from waves or currents. They can also be created by glaciers or volcanoes. Peggs Point is an example of a cape extending into a freshwater lake.
