Peggy Webber (born September 15, 1925) is an American actress and writer. She has had a long career working in movies, on stage, on TV, and in old-time radio shows.

Peggy Webber's Early Life
Peggy Webber was born in Laredo, Texas. Her father was a "wildcat oil driller," which means he explored for new oil fields. Even before she turned three, Peggy was already performing for audiences during breaks at theaters!
She finished high school in 1942 at Tucson High School. While there, she was very involved in drama and acting.
Acting in Movies
Peggy Webber's first movie role was in the 1946 film Her Adventurous Night. In 1948, she played Lady Macduff in a movie version of Macbeth, directed by the famous Orson Welles.
She also had important roles in other films. She played Mrs. Alice Rice in the 1952 movie Submarine Command. Later, she was Miss Dennerly in The Wrong Man, a film directed by the well-known Alfred Hitchcock.
Radio Star
Peggy Webber started her radio career at just 12 years old. She worked on a station called WOAI in San Antonio, Texas. Her amazing voice talents for radio were even featured in Time magazine in 1946!
The magazine article said that in just three years, her voice had brought to life 150 different characters. She performed in about 2,500 radio shows. Some of the popular radio programs she was heard on include Dragnet and Sears Radio Theater. Peggy Webber also started a group called California Artists Radio Theatre.
Television Appearances
Peggy Webber appeared in many television shows. She was in "Dragnet" on TV, just like she was on the radio. From 1955 to 1956, she played Elise Sandor in the TV series Kings Row.
She also had roles in classic Western shows. She played Ella McIntyre in an episode of Cheyenne in 1956. In 1957, she was Flora Stencil in an episode of Gunsmoke.
Writing and Directing
Peggy Webber didn't just act; she also wrote, directed, and produced many shows. She wrote and directed about 250 stage plays, radio programs, and television shows.
She was a writer and producer for an early TV program called Treasures of Literature. In her later years, she continued to write, direct, and produce many new audio programs.
Awards and Recognition
In 2014, Peggy Webber received the Norman Corwin Award for Excellence in Audio Theatre. This award celebrates people who have achieved a lot in the art of audio storytelling. She was the first woman to ever receive this special honor.
Her television program Treasures of Literature was named the "Most Popular Television Program – 1949" by the Television Academy.
