Peggy Webber (born September 15, 1925) is an American actress and writer. She has had a long career, working in movies, on stage, and in television and radio shows. She started acting when she was very young and has continued to work for many years.

Early life
Peggy Webber was born in Laredo, Texas. Her father was a "wildcat oil driller," which means he explored for new oil fields. Even before she turned three, Peggy was already performing. She would entertain audiences during breaks at theaters.
In 1942, she finished high school at Tucson High Magnet School. She was very involved in drama classes there.
Movies
Peggy Webber's first movie role was in 1946, in a film called Her Adventurous Night. In 1948, she played the character Lady Macduff in Orson Welles' movie version of Macbeth.
Some of her other important movie roles include Mrs. Alice Rice in Submarine Command (1952). She also played Miss Dennerly in The Wrong Man, a movie directed by the famous filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock.
Radio shows
Peggy Webber started her radio career at just 12 years old. Her first show was on WOAI radio in San Antonio, Texas. Her amazing voice acting skills were even featured in Time magazine in 1946. The magazine said her voice was so flexible that she had played 150 different characters. She did this in about 2,500 radio shows over just three years!
She was heard on many popular radio programs. These included Dragnet, Pete Kelly's Blues, and The Man Called X. In 1979, she played many characters on Sears Radio Theater. Peggy Webber also started her own group called California Artists Radio Theatre.
In 2019, a radio show called The Big Broadcast featured her career. It even included a new interview where she talked about her current projects.
Television shows
Peggy Webber appeared in many television programs. She was in "Dragnet" on TV, just like she was on the radio. From 1955 to 1956, she played Elise Sandor in Kings Row on ABC.
She also played Ella McIntyre in an episode of “Cheyenne” in 1956. In 1957, she was Flora Stencil in an episode of Gunsmoke called "Cheap Labor."
Writing, directing, and producing
Peggy Webber has not only acted but also written and directed. She wrote and directed about 250 stage plays, radio shows, and television programs. She was a writer and producer for an early TV show called Treasures of Literature. Later in her life, she was in charge of writing, directing, and producing hundreds of new audio programs.
Awards and recognition
In 2014, Peggy Webber received the Norman Corwin Award for Excellence in Audio Theatre. This award celebrates a person's lifetime achievements in creating sound-based art. She was the first woman to receive this special honor. Her television program Treasure of Literature was named "Most Popular Television Program – 1949" by the Television Academy.
