Panagiota-Calliope Zina (Greek: Παναγιώτα-Καλλιόπη Ζήνα), known as Peggy Zina (Greek: Πέγκυ Ζήνα), is a famous Greek singer. She was born on March 8, 1975. Her first album came out in 1995.
Since then, she has released many studio albums. Peggy Zina is a very well-known artist in the Greek music world. In 2010, she was named one of the top female artists in Greece. She has earned many platinum and gold records for her popular songs.

Early Life and Music Start
Peggy Zina was born in Athens, Greece, on March 8, 1975. She started learning to play the piano when she was just five years old. She also enjoyed dancing, especially jazz dance.
During her teenage years, Peggy was very active in school. She took part in many artistic activities, like theater and choir. She graduated from the Jeanne D'Arc Academy of Athens. Her stepfather, Nikos Tsiftelis, was a big support in her life and encouraged her music dreams.
First Albums and Growing Fame (1995-1999)
Peggy Zina's first album, called Peggy Zina, was released in 1995. It was put out by BMG Greece. This album included her first big hit song.
She started performing with other famous singers like Lefteris Pantazis and Notis Sfakianakis. In 1998, she released her second album, Anevaines (You Rose). She also sang a duet with Stelios Rokkos. Later, she performed with Sakis Rouvas.
Becoming More Popular (2000-2002)
In 2000, Peggy Zina joined a new music company called Nitro Music. She also changed her style. On July 4, 2000, she released a CD single. The main song was "Ti Th' Akouso Akoma" (What Else Will I Hear).
This song was the first from her third album, Ena Hadi (A Caress), which came out in 2001. That same year, she worked with Christos Dantis and Notis Sfakianakis.
Eurovision Song Contest Attempt
In 2002, Peggy Zina was asked to represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest. She agreed to sing a song written by Thanos Kalliris. On February 26, 2002, she took part in the Greek National Final.
Her song was called "Love Is a Wonderful Thing". She came in second place. The song became very popular and quickly earned a gold award.
Vres Enan Tropo Album
Peggy Zina released her fourth album, Vres Enan Tropo (Find a Way), in 2002. For this album, she worked with many famous singers. One of them was Giannis Parios.
Giannis Parios gave her four modern laïka songs. He also said that Peggy Zina was an important singer of the "laïko" music style. She continued to perform in Thessaloniki and Athens.
Joining Minos EMI (2003-2004)
After four years with Nitro Music, Peggy Zina signed a new deal with Minos EMI. This was a very good deal for her. In 2003, she released her fifth album, Mazi Sou (With You).
This album became platinum in just a few weeks. It sold over 40,000 copies. The album had two huge hit songs: "Eimai Kala" (I'm Fine) and "Dystihos" (Unfortunately). Peggy Zina set a record for the most performances at the Apollon club. Her popular shows helped Mazi Sou become platinum in January 2004.
Matono and Noima Success (2004-2005)
After performing in Athens, Peggy Zina went to Thessaloniki. She worked with the band Fili Gia Panta and other new singers. After working for a year and a half, she released her new album, Matono (I'm Bleeding), in 2004.
When she returned to Athens, she performed at Apollon for the fourth year. She sang alongside Kostas Karafotis and Nino. Matono also earned a platinum award. Peggy Zina won her first Arion Award for Best Folk (Laiko) Singer of the Year.
International Performances
In spring 2005, Peggy Zina and Nino performed in Australia and the United Kingdom. She also toured in the United States and Canada. For these tours, she sang with rising stars Giorgos Lianos and Maro Litra.
In September 2005, Peggy Zina released her seventh album, Noima (Meaning). For this album, she worked with the famous composer Giorgos Theofanous for the first time. The album became gold on its first day. After a few months, it earned a platinum award. She won the Arion Award for Best Folk (Laiko) Singer of the Year again.
New Albums and Marriage (2006-2007)
On December 8, 2006, Zina released Ena (One). This album was recorded at Diogenis Studio and quickly became platinum. It had many hit songs like "Ena" (One), "Ego Ta Spao" (I Break Them), and the summer hit "Eimai Edo" (I'm Here).
She also sang a duet with Christos Dantis at a MAD Secret Concert. They performed the rebetiko song "To Teleftaio Potiraki."
Peggy Zina's Wedding
Peggy Zina married her longtime music manager, Giorgos Liras, in June 2007. They had been together for ten years. On December 4, 2007, she released the album Trekse (Run).
The songs from this album were already popular on the radio. "An Ypirhes Tha Se Horiza" was from a hit TV series. "Trekse" was presented at the Arion Music Awards. The album earned a gold award in its first week. It debuted at number 2 on the Greek Albums Chart. Trekse became platinum in its sixth week. At the 5th annual MAD Video Music Awards, she performed "2 Hearts." She also won the "Fashion Icon of the Year" award for her song "Trekse."
Best of + and To Pathos Einai Aformi (2008-2009)
On June 24, 2008, Zina released a two-disc collection of her greatest hits called Best of +. This album included all her past hits. It also had three new songs written by Giorgos Moukidis.
These new songs were also released as singles. The songs Paradosou (Surrender) and To Kalokairi (The Summer) had music videos. The album earned a gold award. Peggy Zina received the award on December 3, 2008.
New Studio Album
Zina performed at the VOX music hall for the winter season. She sang alongside Kostas Korafotis and Nino. They had performed together before in 2004. She recorded her tenth studio album in September 2008.
The album was called To Pathos Einai Aformi (Passion is a Reason). It was released in May 2009. The first song, "Anatheorisa" (I Revised), was played on radio stations a month earlier. Its music video premiered on MAD TV.
Other songs from the album included Ela Nihta (Come Night), An M'Agapas (If You Love Me), "Hanome" (I'm Lost), and Se Griza Othoni (Gray Screen). That same year, Zina performed with Dimitris Mitropanos. Their show was very successful and traveled to Thessaloniki and Nicosia. The album has earned a 2x platinum award.
Evaisthiti... I Logiki? and Becoming a Mother (2010-Present)
In May 2010, Zina recorded her eleventh studio album. It was titled Evaisthiti... I Logiki (Sensitive... or Logical). The album was released on October 6, 2010. All the songs were written by Giannis Christodolopoulos and Eleana Vrahali.
The song Stis Zois To Party (In Life's Party) was the first single. The second single, "Rotisa" (I Asked), was released in early September. The album went on to earn a 2x platinum award. On May 9, 2011, Zina released a new digital song called "Ston Diko Mou Ton Planiti" (On My Own Planet). This song also had a music video.
Peggy Zina Becomes a Mother
Peggy Zina had wanted to be a mother since 2009. In April 2011, she announced she was expecting her first child. She shared this news during her performance on Greek Idol.
In July, her husband, Giorgos Liras, had a health concern. He had a procedure to help his heart ten years before. He had surgery on July 25 to improve his heart health. Peggy Zina gave birth to her daughter on October 8, 2011. Many famous people visited her and her baby.
A few days later, Peggy's stepfather passed away suddenly. He had no major health problems before. Her family waited to tell her the sad news so she could recover from childbirth. She was released from the hospital on October 12.
