Pennichuck Brook is a cool stream in New Hampshire, United States. It's like a smaller river that flows into a bigger one, the Merrimack River. This brook is super important because it helps provide clean drinking water for many people in the Nashua area.

The area of land that collects water for Pennichuck Brook is about 31 square miles (80 square kilometers). This makes it one of 14 smaller water collection areas that feed into the Merrimack River. The brook flows through the towns of Nashua and Merrimack, New Hampshire.

Where Does Pennichuck Brook Flow?

Starting Point: Silver Lake

Pennichuck Brook begins its journey at Silver Lake in the town of Hollis. From there, it starts flowing towards the northeast.

Journey Through Ponds

As it travels, the brook goes under a road called NH 122. Then, it flows into a place called Dunklee Pond. After Dunklee Pond, it continues northeast and reaches Pennichuck Pond. This pond is special because it sits right on the border between Hollis and Nashua.

The Path to the Merrimack River

After leaving Pennichuck Pond, Pennichuck Brook becomes the natural boundary between Nashua and the town of Merrimack. It keeps flowing northeast, passing under another road, Amherst Street (NH 101A).

Then, the brook turns east and flows into two more ponds: Holts Pond and Bowers Pond. While it's in Bowers Pond, a big highway, the Everett Turnpike, crosses over it.

Once the brook leaves Bowers Pond, it drops down into Harris Pond and then Supply Pond. Finally, it goes under the Daniel Webster Highway (U.S. Route 3) before it joins the mighty Merrimack River. All of these ponds along the brook's path have dams. The brook also flows generally next to the Nashua River from Pennichuck Pond all the way to where it meets the Merrimack River in Nashua.
