Penta Water is a special kind of bottled water made by a company called United Beverage. This company is located in Southern California. The company says that Penta Water goes through a unique process. They claim this process makes the water offer certain health benefits. However, many scientists and experts disagree with these claims. They say there isn't real scientific proof for them.
How Penta Water Started
Penta Water was created by a person named Bill Holloway in Carlsbad, California. Bill Holloway said he had a health condition that made him feel unwell. His son, Mike Holloway, then accidentally came up with the idea for this very pure water. Bill Holloway felt better after drinking it and thought it helped him live a more normal life. Because of this, he decided to start making and selling the water.
Later, in 2009, a company from Southern California called United Beverage bought the special rights to Penta Water. As of 2019, United Beverage is still making and selling this water.
What the Company Claims
Bill Holloway, the person who started Penta Water, once said that "the water formula actually saved his life." He also claimed to have many stories from people. These people had different health problems, like cancer, arthritis, and even teenage acne. They said that drinking Penta Water helped them feel better because it supposedly reduced swelling.
In an interview in 2004, Bill Holloway also said that "our water protects DNA." He added that it acts like an "anti-aging process" and might even be like a "fountain of youth."
In 2008, Penta Water announced that a new study was being done. This study supposedly showed that skin cells grown in Penta Water had less damage from ultraviolet (UV) rays. UV rays are what you get from the sun. The company claimed this meant Penta Water might help with anti-aging and have antioxidant effects. Antioxidants are things that protect your body's cells. Penta Water also said that UC Davis would continue to study these effects.
Is It True?
It's important to know that many scientists and health experts do not agree with the claims made about Penta Water. They say there isn't enough strong scientific evidence to prove that this water has special health benefits or anti-aging effects. These claims are often seen as unproven.
