Peralta (which is Azkoien in Basque) is a town and municipality in northern Spain. It is part of the Navarre region.
Peralta is about 59.5 kilometers (37 miles) away from Pamplona, a larger city. The town is located on the Arga River. This river flows into the Aragon River, which then joins the Ebro River. In 2020, about 5,951 people lived in Peralta. It is one of 27 towns in the Merindad de Olite, which is a historical area in southern Navarre.

Peralta is located in the southern part of the Foral Community of Navarre. It covers an area of about 89 square kilometers (34 square miles). Peralta shares its borders with several other towns. To the north, it borders Falces. To the east, it borders Marcilla. To the south, you'll find Funes, and to the west, it borders Azagra.
Land and Water
The area around Peralta is mostly made of limestone, which is a type of rock. The main river flowing through Peralta is the River Arga. This river is very important for the town's geography and history.
How Many People Live Here?
The number of people living in Peralta has changed over the years. In the early 1900s, around 3,300 people lived there. The population slowly grew throughout the 20th century. By the year 2000, it had reached over 5,300 people. In 2010, the population was almost 6,000. In 2020, about 5,951 people lived in Peralta.

Peralta has been home to several notable individuals who achieved great things.
- Miguel Irigaray Gorría (1850-1903) was a politician. This means he was involved in how the government of the country or region was run.
- Emilio Rodríguez Irazusta (1860-1919) was an inventor. He is famous for inventing the National Identity Document, which is like an ID card for citizens. There is a square near the church in Peralta named after him.
- Santos Jorge was a musician. He is well-known for composing the national anthem of Panama.
- Carlos Zalduendo was a French rugby league player. He also became the president of the French Rugby League Federation and the former president of the Toulouse Olympique rugby team.
