Peri Gilpin, born Peri Kay Oldham on May 27, 1961, is an American actress. She is well-known for playing Roz Doyle in the TV show Frasier. She also played Kim Keeler in the ABC Family drama series Make It or Break It.

About Peri Gilpin's Acting Career

Peri Gilpin started her acting journey early. As a child, she took drama classes at the Dallas Children's Theater. After high school, she studied drama at the University of Texas at Austin. She also took acting classes in London to improve her skills.

Early Roles and TV Appearances

Gilpin worked at the Williamstown Theatre Festival for five summers. There, she got her first main role in a play called Hawthorne Country. She became a professional actress in 1988.

In April 1993, Gilpin appeared on the TV series Cheers. She played a character named Holly Matheson in one episode.

Starring in Frasier

From 1993 to 2004, Peri Gilpin played Roz Doyle in the popular TV series Frasier. This show was a spin-off from Cheers. In Frasier, she worked alongside Kelsey Grammer, who played Frasier Crane. Gilpin was chosen for the role from over 300 other actresses.

In 1999, Gilpin and the main cast of Frasier won a Screen Actors Guild Award. This award was for their excellent performance as a team in a comedy series.

Peri Gilpin was born in Waco, Texas. Her parents were Jim O'Brien and Sandra Jo Hauck. After her parents divorced, her mother married Wes Gilpin, and Peri took his last name. She grew up in Dallas.

Gilpin's family has faced challenges with cancer. Her mother died from leiomyosarcoma. Peri has worked to support cancer research awareness. Her siblings also passed away from cancer. Her sister, Patti, died in 2020, and her brother, Marc Gilpin, who was also an actor, died in 2023.

On July 31, 1999, Peri Gilpin married Christian Vincent, who is a painter. They have twins, who were born in 2004. Jane Leeves, her co-star from Frasier, is her neighbor and a close friend.
