Main Characters in Danny Phantom

Danny Phantom: The Half-Ghost Hero

Voiced by David Kaufman

Daniel "Danny" Fenton, also known as Danny Phantom, is the main hero of the show. He starts as a shy 14-year-old boy who wants to fit in. After an accident in his parents' ghost lab, he becomes a human and ghost mix, called a "halfa." This gives him many ghost powers. His first fight with the Lunch Lady Ghost set him on the path to becoming a superhero. Danny is kind and loyal to his friends and family. He grows more confident and mature, focusing on his hero duties.

Danny can fly, pass through objects, become invisible, sense other ghosts, and take over people's bodies. He can also shoot "ectoplasm" rays from his hands. As the show goes on, he gains more powers. These include making copies of himself, creating forcefields, moving things with his mind, absorbing powers, and using ice powers. His "ghost sense," which warns him of ghosts, is actually part of his ice powers. In the special episode "The Ultimate Enemy," Danny learns a super powerful "ghostly wail." This is a loud yell that creates energy waves, destroying almost everything in its path. But it uses up all his strength and turns him back into a human.

Sam Manson: The Eco-Goth Friend

Voiced by Grey DeLisle

Sam Manson is one of Danny's best friends. She is a gothic, environmentally-aware "ultra-recyclo-vegetarian." Her parents are wealthy and traditional. They inherited money from an ancestor who invented a machine for toothpicks. Sam kept this a secret at first, not wanting "fake friendships." In a Christmas special, it was shown that her family is Jewish.

Sam is often the most practical of the group. She can be bossy but always stands up for what she believes in, especially for nature. Like Danny, she is very kind and always supports him. She was the one who encouraged Danny to explore the Fenton Portal. This led to the accident that gave Danny his ghost powers. She has a crush on Danny throughout most of the series and eventually becomes his girlfriend.

Sam has also caused ghosts to appear by accident. She was even transformed twice. In "Parental Bonding," she turned into a ghost dragon. In "Urban Jungle," a ghost named Undergrowth brainwashed her to be his queen. In "Memory Blank," Sam accidentally made Danny lose his powers. She also brought three movie ghosts to life.

He once even defeated Vlad Plasmius. Jack is a self-proclaimed scientist with good technical knowledge. He builds ghost gadgets and defense systems all around the Fenton house. He can also be serious and skilled when his family is in danger.

Maddie is a skilled martial artist and Jack's partner. She helps invent Fenton anti-ghost gadgets. She wears a jumpsuit hood with goggles, looking a bit like Catwoman from DC comics. Maddie is more sensible than Jack. She often supports him or keeps him out of trouble. She can be aggressive at times.
