William Joseph Baldwin (born February 21, 1963), also known as Billy Baldwin, is an American actor. He is one of the famous Baldwin brothers. He has starred in many movies like Flatliners (1990) and Backdraft (1991). He also appeared in the Netflix show Northern Rescue (2019). William Baldwin is married to singer Chynna Phillips.

About William Baldwin's Early Life
William Baldwin was born in Massapequa, New York. His mother, Carol Newcomb, started The Baldwin Fund. His father, Alexander Rae Baldwin, Jr., was a high school teacher and football coach.
William is part of a famous acting family. His brothers are Alec, Daniel, and Stephen. They are often called the Baldwin brothers. He also has two sisters, Beth and Jane. The family was raised Catholic.
William went to Alfred G. Berner High School. He then studied political science at Binghamton University. While there, he was a varsity wrestler.
William Baldwin's Acting Career
Starting Out in the 1980s
Before becoming an actor, William Baldwin worked as a fashion model for Calvin Klein. His first big acting role was in a TV movie called The Preppie Murder in 1989. He played Robert Chambers in the film.
He also had a small part in the 1989 movie Born on the Fourth of July. His brothers Daniel and Stephen also appeared in this film.

Success in the 1990s
Baldwin's first major film was Internal Affairs. He then starred in big movies like Flatliners in 1990. In this film, he acted alongside stars such as Julia Roberts and Kevin Bacon.
In 1991, he played a Chicago firefighter named Brian McCaffrey in Backdraft. This movie also featured Kurt Russell and Robert De Niro. His role in the 1993 movie Sliver with Sharon Stone was very popular. It even earned him an MTV Movie Award.
In 1995, Baldwin starred with Cindy Crawford in Fair Game. He also appeared in the film Bulworth in 1998. In 1999, he worked with Jamie Lee Curtis in the science fiction movie Virus.

In the 2000s, Baldwin continued to act in many films and TV shows. He had a main role in the TV film Double Bang in 2001. He was praised for his supporting role in the 2005 film The Squid and the Whale. For this movie, he won the Gotham Independent Film Award for Best Ensemble Cast.
In 2008, he appeared in the comedy film Forgetting Sarah Marshall. He played Detective Hunter Rush in the movie.

In 2010, William Baldwin voiced Batman in the animated movie Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. He also played Dr. William van der Woodsen on the TV show Gossip Girl.
Baldwin appeared with his brother Daniel in a documentary about breast cancer called 1 a Minute. He also had a recurring role in the TV series Parenthood. In 2011, he starred in the Lifetime movie The Craigslist Killer.

William Baldwin's Family Life
In 1995, William Baldwin married singer Chynna Phillips. She is a member of the music group Wilson Phillips. Her parents are musician John Phillips and Michelle Gilliam.
William and Chynna have three children together. Their daughters are Jameson (born in 2000) and Brooke (born in 2004). Their son is Vance (born in 2001). In 2019, Baldwin shared that his son Vance had cancer but was now healthy again.
William Baldwin lives in both Santa Barbara, California, and Bedford Corners, New York. His New York home is close to his brother Stephen's home.
