Cynthia Ann Crawford (born February 20, 1966) is an American model. She became very famous in the 1980s and 1990s. She was one of the most popular supermodels. You could see her on many magazine covers and fashion runways. She also appeared in many fashion ads. Later, she started acting and created her own businesses.

Early Life and Discovering Modeling

Cindy Crawford was born in DeKalb, Illinois. Her birthday is February 20, 1966. She has two sisters, Chris and Danielle. She also had a brother, Jeffery, who sadly died at age 3 from childhood leukemia.

Cindy's family has been in the United States for many generations. Her background is mostly German, English, and French. She learned that she is a descendant of English settlers. She was raised in the Congregationalist faith. In 2013, she learned that some of her ancestors were European nobility. She even found out she was related to Charlemagne.

When she was in high school, a local photographer asked to take her picture. This photo was for a local publication. It became Cindy's first magazine cover. When Cindy was 10 years old, her three-year-old brother Jeff died from leukemia. Since becoming a model, Cindy has focused her charity work on childhood leukemia. She believes he received the best care possible there. She also helps the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
