Peter Frederick Bronfman (October 2, 1929 – December 1, 1996) was a Canadian businessman. He was born in Montreal, Quebec. Peter was a member of the wealthy Bronfman family from Toronto.
He went to Selwyn House School in Montreal. He also attended the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. This is one of America's oldest prep schools. Peter earned his university degree from Yale University in 1952.

Peter Bronfman's Business Life
Peter Frederick Bronfman was born in Montreal in 1929. His father was Allan Bronfman. His uncle was Samuel Bronfman, who started the Seagram Company. Peter studied at the Lawrenceville School. He then got his degree from Yale University in 1952.
Building a Business Empire
Peter and his brother, Edward Bronfman, started a company together. It was called Edper Investments. This company managed many different businesses. At its biggest, Edper Investments controlled about $100 billion in assets. This included some of Canada's largest companies.
Sports Team Ownership
Peter and his brother also owned the Montreal Canadiens hockey team. They owned the team from 1971 to 1978. During this time, the Canadiens won four Stanley Cup championships. They won in 1973, 1976, 1977, and 1978.
Peter also owned Labatt Brewing Company. This company owned the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team. The Blue Jays won the World Series twice. They won in 1992 and 1993.
Honors and Legacy
On November 14, 1996, Peter Bronfman was given a special award. He was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. This is one of Canada's highest honors. The award was given to his family after he passed away in 1997.

Peter Bronfman died on December 1, 1996. He was 67 years old. He had three children: Linda, Brenda, and Bruce.
