Peter Rosenkrands Løvenkrands (born 29 January 1980) is a Danish football manager and former player. He was known for his speed. Peter mainly played as a striker or a winger.
Peter started his football journey in Denmark. He won the Danish Cup with Akademisk Boldklub in 1999. Later, he moved to the Scottish club Rangers. There, he played for six years and won seven big trophies, including two Scottish Premier League titles.
In 2006, he joined the German team Schalke 04. After a few years, he moved to Premier League side Newcastle United in 2009. He then played for Birmingham City before retiring in 2014. Peter was named the Danish Under-19 Player of the Year in 1998. He also played 21 times for the Danish national team. He represented his country in the 2002 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2004.

Peter's Club Career
Starting at Akademisk Boldklub
Peter Løvenkrands was born in Hørsholm, Denmark. He signed his first professional contract with Danish Superliga club Akademisk Boldklub (AB) in February 1998. He played his first Superliga game in July 1998. His coach quickly saw him as a future star for the Danish national team. Peter was part of the AB team that won the 1999 Danish Cup.
Playing for Rangers
In June 2000, Peter joined the Scottish club Rangers. He played 182 games for them. During his time at Rangers, he helped them win two Scottish Premier League championships. He scored 54 goals for Rangers. This included a winning goal against their rivals Celtic in the 2002 Scottish Cup Final.
Peter often played as a left winger, even though he was naturally a centre forward. In the 2005–06 season, he played both positions. This was his best scoring season at Rangers. He also played a big part in Rangers reaching the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League. He scored four goals in that competition. His goals helped Rangers move past the group stage.
Time at Schalke 04
After six years with Rangers, Peter's contract ended in 2006. He then joined the German club Schalke 04 on 23 May 2006. He had a good first season at Schalke. He played as a left winger and scored six goals. However, he got injured and missed the end of the season.
His second season was not as successful. Injuries and poor performances meant he lost his spot in the starting team. By January 2009, he was released by the club.
Joining Newcastle United

Peter Løvenkrands joined Newcastle United in January 2009. He signed a contract until the end of the season. He scored his first goal for Newcastle in a 3–2 win against West Bromwich Albion. He also scored against Manchester United, ending their goalkeeper's long run without conceding a goal. Despite his efforts, Newcastle was relegated to the Championship at the end of the season. He left the club when his contract ended.
Peter returned to Newcastle on 1 September 2009. He signed a three-year contract. After a slow start, he began to play much better. He scored his first hat-trick for Newcastle in an FA Cup win against Plymouth Argyle. He dedicated a goal to his father, who had recently passed away. Peter formed a strong partnership with fellow striker Andy Carroll. He helped Newcastle win the Championship and return to the Premier League.
In the 2011–12 season, Peter scored two goals in a League Cup victory. He was out for much of the season due to a knee injury. Newcastle released him on 1 June 2012.
Moving to Birmingham City
On 9 July 2012, Peter signed a two-year deal with Championship club Birmingham City. He scored his first goal for them in his first game, a 5–1 win in the League Cup. Birmingham City released him at the end of the 2013–14 season. Peter Løvenkrands announced his retirement from football on 19 November 2014. He scored 8 goals in 42 games for Birmingham.
Peter's International Career
Peter Løvenkrands started playing for the Denmark under-19 national team in September 1997. He scored five goals in eight games for the under-19 team. He was named the Danish Under-19 Player of the Year in 1998. He then played for the under-21 team from 1999 to 2001, scoring 7 goals in 12 games.
He made his debut for the senior Danish national team in February 2002. He was part of the Danish squad for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He also played in UEFA Euro 2004. In November 2006, he scored his first goal for the national team in a friendly match. His international career paused for a while after 2008. He played his last game for Denmark in 2010.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Peter Løvenkrands returned to Rangers in May 2017. He worked as a part-time coach in their youth Academy. In June 2018, he became the Reserve Team Coach at Rangers. He left Rangers in June 2020.
In June 2021, he was announced as the manager of Danish 1st Division side Fremad Amager. He left the club in June 2022. In October 2023, he became the head coach of the under-19 team at AaB Fodbold. He also worked as an assistant coach for their first team. AaB confirmed in May 2024 that Peter would leave the club for personal reasons.
Peter's Personal Life
Peter is the younger brother of another footballer, Tommy Løvenkrands. His father passed away in January 2010. Peter dedicated a goal to his late father. He has since started a charity to help fund research for Alzheimer's disease, which his father suffered from. Peter speaks fluent English. He even developed a Glaswegian accent during his time playing for Rangers.
